champion hairpuller are simply scott and patrick walker (brothers & school teachers) along with drummer and huge fan Rick Nagle, who via our "trusty" postal service send tapes back and forth (hence, the speedy postman series)collaborating on the music they love. the sound is hopefully a blend of the beatles, guided by voices (robert pollard), and every other lo-fi garage band with some sense of melody. everything recorded was done on our workhorse tascam analog 4-track. perfection is not what we're looking for, but a sound that harkens back to those great pop bands of the 60's and the greatest band of the 90's...gbv.
Band/artist history
let's just say scott still "owns" patrick on the basketball court, and patrick definitely dominates the whiffle ball competition, but i'm pretty sure "whiffle ball" isn't an olympic sport nor is it something anyone outside of the first grade takes very seriously. Rick surfs, so balls are foreign to him.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
we could barely afford a stinkin' recorder, let alone all the equipment to play live. if someone's willing to loan us all the stuff we'd play a set that would blow your pants off. i don't mean that literally, but figuratively...kinda.
Your musical influences
beatles, gbv, pavement, neutral milk hotel, sparklehorse, belle & sebastian, beulah, uncle tupelo, son volt, sufjan stevens, strokes, swell, olivia tremor control, spoon, the who, the wrens, sun kil moon.
What equipment do you use?
tascam analog 4-track. think lo-fi, warm, and crackly.
Anything else?
please give us a listen and we think you'll likee!
