Celestial Image has created music for planetariums, films, commercials and retail music. You may have heard Celestial Image when Christmas shopping and did not know who it was. It is played in Walmart, CompUSA and Petco stores across the USA.
Why this name?
I worked in the planetarium field and I used that as my consulting business name.
Do you play live?
I am thinking about it but I dont really like the hassle of moving equipment etc.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Too soon to tell, but it gives a lot of talented people access to market their music that would never have the chance before.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It would depend on the offer. The labels offer the most promotional and distribution power.
Your influences?
I am influenced by film composers like Bernard Herman and Ennio Morricone. I also like Maurice and Michel Jarre.
Favorite spot?
I like wherever I am. I like Cleveland Ohio but I had a pleasant time living in Paris
Equipment used:
EML Synthesizers, theremin, tape techniques but mostly the computer now. Like the Gigasampler but can get by with soundfonts sometimes.
