Born into a family where gathering around the kitchen table to sing at a moments notice was normal, Carlton has been singing since the age of seven. A passion for singing was evident even at that tender age and his parents encouraged further development. He sang with a gospel quartet for the next 11 years, winning state and local awards. As a teenager he opened for such gospel acts as the Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Rising Stars and The Golden Voices to name a few. After graduation he moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he sang with bands of notoriety: Merging Traffic, The Force Band, Levert, Charisma and others. Moving to New York city, he toured and began developing his writing skills. In 1998 he relocated to Greensboro where he released his first gospel solo cd entitled "I'm Gonna Love You More" on the Cignature Record label. He has opened for or performed with Candi Staton, John P. Kee, Shirley Frazier, The Voices United and BeBe Watson to name a few. He has appeared on the "Say Yes" program where his smooth stylings were broadcast worldwide through the TBN television network. Carlton's career spans over 40 years and he will be the first to say that he's just getting started!
