BluBere (pronounced Blueberry), is comprised of three musicians from different backgrounds; we exist as an inspirational band with Christian concepts. Although we do not sound like this artist, our style reminds listeners of India Arie. To best describe our sound is to say that we have a clean sound with a "roots" feel or foundation. At times, Pop influences can definitely be heard in some tunes, while the Bluesy Funk can be identified in others.
Why this name?
After a performance about four years ago, we were given the name indirectly by a mutual friend. Upon researching its origin and uses, it became evident that had been given a New Name, New Spelling and New Destiny.
Do you play live?
We routinely play at coffee shops in the Austin and Round Rock area. Also, we've recently started performing at the city of Round Rock Artisan Stroll once a month, and receive favorable responses frequently. The most special moments are when the children run to us and dance in front of us.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet makes available songs that may not be available in conventional stores. Also, there is virtually no way a song can be out of stock as all one would have to do is "download" it. And the most important reason why internet and/or mp3 are changing the music industry is that it puts the artist and the fan in charge and much of the bureaucracy is avoided.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Our goal is to start our own production company that nurtures and supports the artist and a record label that will have the artist's interests at heart.
Band History:
BluBere has been together for four years (in November, 2006) and started out as a Praise/Worship Band. During the first two years, we perform regularly for ministries, seminars, conferences and weddings. During our third year, we added performances in coffee shop venues and outdoor events, recorded a single and a four-song EP. We are now working on a full length album titled "From Hear To Praxis", targeted for Spring 2007.
Your influences?
Our musical influences include Sade, Reba, Prince, Michael Jackson, U2, Cold Play, Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Frankie Beverly and Maze, George Clinton, the Brothers Johnson, Mozart, Jill Scott, Bethoven, etc. Its safe to say that we are moved by many genres and musicians. But our style and sound is best described as "Neo Roots Inspirational" or New Roots with a message.
Favorite spot?
Our favorite spot is where our destiny leads us. We've enjoyed Seattle, Washington and Nashville, Tennessee but look forward to visiting many more cities, states and countries.
