There is only one real Big Lo, the rest of these cats are imposters!!! If you want to hear real Hip-Hop where the only formula is true creativity than you've reached the right place!
Why this name?
I've been called Lo my whole life which is short for my last name, Lopez, but the Big came from my boy Dub Tre who noted that Lo is too short, and plus Im bigger than most of my people, hence the name Big Lo. Also, the "Big" can signify that I'm making big moves.
Do you play live?
All the time. I've performed at colleges, nightclubs, parties, and music festivals throughout the Southeast. So far, I've performed in Tallahassee, Pensacola, Ft. Walton, Panama City, Orlando, Jacksonville, Miami, Atlanta, Thomasville, and Mobile.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think the internet is both a blessing and a curse. It does open up your music to people who wouldn't normally hear it, but at the same time, bootlegging (piracy) music has become a major issue, and is taking money away from the artist.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the terms were fair and I would still hold creative controll over all of my projects with that label...I would also want to own the rights to my masters.
Band History:
I started rhyming around the age of 14, but got serious in 1999 when I got locked up. In mid-2000 when I was released I formed Kill-A-Foe with Dub Tre & DainjaRuss. We released a score of mixtapes here in Florida including "WKAF Radio," "Redrum Radio," and "From Nowhere." In 2004 I was featured on the "Guerillas In Tha Mixx Vol. 1" Compilation which also had Hip-Hop legends Public Enemy, The Coup, Afrika of the Jungle Brothers, and Michael Franti from Spearhead among others. In 2005 I released my first solo project entitled "Where Am I Going?" which earned me press and radio play worldwide as well as the opportunity to perform at a number of venues. I just released "MindState: Freedom" which also features Vast Aire, Beretta 9, Inferno, DainjaRuss, Jade Foxx and 14th Century and am now working on my third solo project entitled "Ill International".
Your influences?
My musical influences are wide and varied...but as far as Hip-Hop goes I would have to say, Wu-Tang, Killarmy, Gravediggaz, MF Doom, Madlib, Nas, Jedi Mind Tricks, Goodie Mob, Yukmouth, Outkast, Scarface, and 2pac.
Favorite spot?
Of course I love Pensacola where I now live, but I think my favorite spot is Little Five Points in Atlanta, the culture there is vibrant and I always have a good time there.
