My real name is Kevan, but please call me Bau Down. My music is awesome, but if you don't think so, that's awesome too. Do you.

Its Bau.

PS. Check out www.baudown.com.
Why this name?
BAUDWN4 was my vanity license plate on my first car. Of course, the BAUDWN stood for Bau Down...Bau coming from my last name of Bauman.

Yes, that is still my license plate.
Do you play live?
I LOVE playing live, it is what music is...entertainment for the listener. It is my favorite thing in the world.

My best memory from doing a live show is having everybody in the crowd going absolutely insane to my song titled "Dosey Doe". Dosey Doe is one of the big songs I am known for, and everybody got real loud and sang along with me. The audience went so bananas during the song that I had to join in with 'em during the third verse. By the end of the song, even the people in the back were gettin their dosey doe on...and I think everything in the Valparaiso University ARC was destroyed.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3's are the new thing. They are really changing the music industry for better and worse. For better because people can get a hold of more artists music alot easier. For worse, because with the better there is always a worse. Sometimes in this case it is because people can steal music easier and get away with it. But I think the worse side is the little kids don't know very much about live music, because they have Fergie or whatever her stupid name is in their iPod, and simply don't know better.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would say it would be a well though out decision. Not anything spur of the moment...because what people do not realize is that record companies are not music. In fact, they really ruin the essence of music. They only care about one thing, and that is sales. They turn people they sign into marketing scheme publicity stunts so they can make money. I could go on forever about how I feel about them, but I won't. I will say that unless I felt it was right in my heart to sign to a record label, I would'nt do it. I have everything I need to do what I want to do in this world.
Band History:
My history is pretty intense. If you wanna read my biography and what really makes me tick...please visit my website at www.baudown.net/biography.html.
Your influences?
My musical influences are many and great. They range from my grandfather, who started a music company called Chordcraft in 1964, to Ace of Base, Coolio and 2Pac. You name it, it hasprolly influenced me and the music I make.
Favorite spot?
I've been everywhere, but Chicago, IL is the place to be.
Equipment used:
I started out recording my music through a computer microphone...and the microphone was in the monitor of a little desktop computer.

Nowadays I run my own studio, have my own record label, and have people begging me to work with them.

In other words, hard work and dedication can take you a very long way.
