Passion, intensity, rhythm and groove mark the arresting music from Silent Iris. The music holds you, the lyrics grip you, and the voice takes you home
Why this name?
The name was chosen during a band brainstorming session. Rebekah said "How about Silent Aisles (or Isles, we're not quite sure)", and Bjorn misheard it as "Silent Iris". Everyone liked that far better, and the band name was born.
Do you play live?
We play live as often as possible. Our favorite club is The Fine Line Music Cafe, one of the larger venues for local music in the Twin Cities.
If you make it big..?
We can only hope we make it big, but if it happens, we plan to support independent music in as many ways as possible.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet allows artists who should be heard the opportunity to disperse new ideas throughout the world with a minimum of distribution headaches.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the record contract and the major label.
Band History:
Rebekah Lawstuen searched for more than a year to find the perfect combination of people to make her music real. In November of 1998, Bjorn Tor Berg joined, bringing remarkable guitar solos. Todd Davis, keyboardist and backup guitar, was brought into Silent Iris (then called Blessed Juliet) in March of 1999. Scottie (Junior)Schultz, master of groove, brought his incredible rhythmic talents to the band in July of 1999, and most recently, Brett Wartchow provided awesome low-end riffs with the touch of a truly gifted musician.Silent Iris has been performing in the Twin Cities since August, and continues to receive accolades for their unusual, remarkable music.
