About the song
I woke up one morning (thankya lord!) and remembered it was my birthday...and I wrote myself a song...simple as that
Lyrics
It's my fifty third summer, it's my 53rd year.
My hairs a little grayer but I'm glad to be here.
Surrounded by good friends, and a woman that I adore.
I've had a lot of fun with this old guitar, and made a lot of music in some sea-side bars.
Watchin' people dance underneath this warm Georgia moon.
I've broke a few strings, but I've learned a few things, about livin' and laughin' and chasin' my dreams, and never giving in to devil and the deep blue sea....
But always taking the time...to:
"Give a little more than they're asking for, greet an old friend standing at your door.
Have another drink, tell another joke, maybe two.
See another sunset, another sunrise.
Try to see the world thru another man's eye's, and never take for granted...that Gods behind it all."
Well I've stubbed my toe and I've skinned my knee, threw away good money just trying to be me.
I've hurt some feelings and I broke a few hearts along the way.
I told a few lies that I never shoulda.
Broke a few rules when I knew that I coulda, just gone the other way and held my head up high.
But I'll neverlook back and I'll never turn away, 'cause I've still got a whole lots of thing left to say, on this long fun road....to my fifty third year..and always taking the time to:"Give a little more than they're asking for, greet an old friend standing at your door.
Have another drink, tell another joke, maybe two.
See another sunset, another sunrise.
Try to see the world thru another man's eye's, and never take for granted...that Gods behind it all."
what a long fun trip's it's been...to my 53rd year
