About the song
My threw a paycheck away when we first got married and we were in the alley behind the house diggin' thru the garbage before the truck came the next day.
Later a lotto ticket that was on the refrigerator door came up missin'....she used it to make a grocery list and then lost it!!
Lyrics
6 lucky numbers ( and I’m headed to the keys) © 2005 Leo Dean

I’ve had enough of this big city stuff, I’ve gotta find me a new place to be.
Where the sky’s always sunny and green water’s all you see.
So I think I’ll trade Sherman for General Robert E. Lee,
Just 6 lucky numbers, and I’m headed to the Keys.

But without proper funding a plan ain’t a plan, it’s just another grand barroom scheme.
I need 6 lucky numbers on that redneck IRA, a tank of gas and you can kiss my ass,
‘cause I’m headed to the Florida Keys.
6 lucky numbers…oh lord let it be me.

You see I’ve worked hard nearly all of my life,
Hell, I even made a lot of dough.
But I’ve spent my winters way up north, freezin’ my ass off in the snow.
My body say’s it’s had enough and that it’s time to go,
But a quick check of my resources and my bank account says no.

6 lucky numbers and I’m headed to the Keys,
6 lucky numbers…oh Lord let it be me.
I’ll be standing in the spotlight, for the whole world to see.
My 6 lucky numbers and me headed to the keys.

I walked into that Jiffie store with one thing on my mind,
To seal my fate with my destiny and leave this place behind.
I filled out my playslip, while I stood there in line.
Thinkin’ about that money that rightfully was mine.
Then I gave Ah-Poo a dollar and the words fell outta my mouth,
“Dooba, dooba, dooba, say a Hindu prayer and send this yankee south!”

CHORUS

I waited two years on Friday night, I was sure it would never come,
I was sure that my watch had stopped, or my calendar was wrong.
I was gonna sit there, with the card upon my knee,
Markin’ off those numbers, as I stared at my TV.
But instead I’ve my flashlight, and I’m down upon my knees.
Diggin’ thru that garbage, with my heart about to seize.

I know I put that ticket on our refrigerator door,
And I know that I ain’t crazy, it just ain’t there no more.

Then a womans voice I knew so well said honey you’re gonna be pissed,
But I used.. that ticket, to make our grocery list!

There went my:

6 lucky numbers and me headed to the keys,
a half ah dozen digits, that put me on my knees.
I won’t see no spotlight, no luxury or fame….
But life without my ex-wife….ain’t gonna be the same !

6 little numbers, and she lost her name.
