Dream Darkly

I've got a reason to dream darkly
the "spooks" on TV and the tough times at home
We've all got a reason to sleep lightly...
We are not alone

We've got a reason to circle the wagons
Here come the dragons and the knights are long gone
Don't tell the children they've got to shine brightly...
They know something's wrong.

Someone sticking my neck out for me
The winds of war are blowing us to sea.

I've got a reason to dream darkly
It's open season for the discontent
The world's injustice gonna take its tithe now...
Where's your money spent?

Turn on the TV - it's more vainglory
God bless America but that's only half the story
God save the child with a gun in his hand...
He thinks that I am his reason to dream darkly.
