About the song
I wrote this song to the sound of my "Jet Cone" Frigidare washing machine. A side note is that Carlos Santana with Matchbox 20 would win numerous awards with a very similar song in later years called "Smooth". I actually contacted a lawyer to see if anything could be done but then changed my mind and dropped it. I got nothing against Carlos.
Lyrics
Well we live in a short circuit city, with transistors and tubes, just a hand full of lonely musicians, and well sing you the blues, we have our ups , we have our downs, but still you see, were ma kin' our sounds, and still we care, we care about you, and how ya live, and what you do, who cares about your life in the city, who cares about you and me, were on our own now, lets show em how to be free, yeah ya gotta be free, we all feel the pressures that surround us, theres no difference at all, so be careful on that ladder of life, don't lose your step and fall, we live our lives, we play our parts, we make our sounds from our souls and our hearts, and yes we care, we care about you, and how you live and what you do, who cares about your life, who cares about you and me, were on our own now, lets show em how to be free, ya gotta be free, well we live in a short circuit city, with transistors and tubes, just a hand full of lonely musicians, and well sing you the blues, we have our ups and we have our downs, but still ya see were ma kin or sound, and yes we care we care about you, and how ya live and what you do, who cares about your life in the city, who cares about you and me, were on our own now, lets show em how to be free, ya gotta be free, who cares about your life, who cares about you and me, were on our own now, lets show em how to be free, ya gotta be free, yes ya can, be free.
