Seeking Empathy
A plea to humanity to release themselves from materialistic greed that lends itself to abuse and serves the powers that be. If we were to break free and live in harmony under the banner of empathy then we can truly call ourselves the HUMAN race. 'Bir

About the song
I've always wanted to write a protest song like Neil Young used to write. Pink Floyd was a major inspiration to me in writing this song. I watched a DVD featuring their live show at Pompeii and Roger Waters in an interview mentioned their song Echoes from the Meddle album was all about empathy. Especially the one lyric that goes, "Strangers walking down the street/By chance two separate glances meet/And I am YOU and what I see is ME." So with that I set out to write something as powerful as that song.
Lyrics
When all is said and done
Could we be the ones
To rearrange our wicked ways
There seems to be a few
Who'll know just what to do
They live beyond this worldly craze
So when these days seem bleak and meek
With war surrounding all
Empathy is what we seek
To stop our final fall
Long lost prophets of our days
Made a similar call to try and save us all
Looking back on the path we tread
I can't help but sense the dread
That trudges up beneath our feet
The best laid plans that we have set
Falls right through the fisher's net
Lost within the ocean's beat
As we reach our final curtain
One thing is left for certain
The grip of greed demands more blood
Share the wealth and not the glory
Is the final chapter of this story
Lest we drown beneath the flood.
Could we be the ones
To rearrange our wicked ways
There seems to be a few
Who'll know just what to do
They live beyond this worldly craze
So when these days seem bleak and meek
With war surrounding all
Empathy is what we seek
To stop our final fall
Long lost prophets of our days
Made a similar call to try and save us all
Looking back on the path we tread
I can't help but sense the dread
That trudges up beneath our feet
The best laid plans that we have set
Falls right through the fisher's net
Lost within the ocean's beat
As we reach our final curtain
One thing is left for certain
The grip of greed demands more blood
Share the wealth and not the glory
Is the final chapter of this story
Lest we drown beneath the flood.
