About the song
This song was a lot of firsts: The first song that M. and D. wrote together; the first song that D. ever actually composed in earnest; and the first song that D. composed on the guitar. It was inspired by a close friend of D's who went through a very difficult time in her life, and resorted to self-mutilation because she couldn't find any other outlet for her frustration, but really, its about anyone who feels hopeless and trapped by external circumstance.
Lyrics
Siren screaming breaks her silence into a pillow curled up fetal cloth stuffed in her mouth choking on her own frustration. Siren hiding crying tears beneath thin cotton sheets tucked away from a life of nightmare scenes her grip slowly slips off her unknown dreams. What else can she do they want her to bite her tongue behind collected cool and the countless years of stings have left her nobody's fool.
Siren smiling razor cuts into her skin long burned but blood tickles as it trickles more drops onto the bathroom floor. What else can she do she sees no point in gazing at stars out of reach so she boarded up her windows and locked all the doors and sent me the keys.
So scream for me siren before you burn too deep before your blood boils cold and you forget you can't see the horizon (Siren screaming as she tries to get away and all her hopes just slowly fade into her cell of entrapment her days seem hazy as she's) peering through a peephole.
Siren bleeding shaking hands pressed up to stop the flow unleashed by years of pent up rage and lessons learned before their age. What else can she do hope is not part of her equation the walls she built around her pshing closer, closing in.
So scream for me siren before you burn too deep before your blood boils cold and you forget you can't see the horizon So scream for me siren till you find your voice before you've bled too long (Siren screaming as she tries to get away and all her hopes just slowly fade into her cell of entrapment her days seem hazy as she's Siren screaming as she yearns to get away from a binding tradition of disapproving eyes waiting for freedom) behind your wall.
Siren screaming break your silence into a pillow...
