About the song
The 2nd anniversary of the sept. 11, 2001 attacks are around the corner.
Soon, our President will be bragging about what a good job he has done in bringing the terrorists and 'evil doers' to justice for killing all of those innocent people that day.
However, there are many people who think the President has failed us in this task. When Bush sent troops into Afghanistan to get Osama Bin Laden 'Dead or Alive', all of America supported him. It was exactly the right thing to do. After all, Osama was the mastermind behind the attacks, right?
But, it wasn't long before we stopped hearing about Osama Bin Laden. Actually, the President stopped talking about him altogether. Instead, Saddam Hussein entered his vocabulary. Many of us were confused. Saddam didn't have anything to do with 9/11. Dont we still need to get Osama? He murdered thousands of our people, didn't he?
But Bush said Saddam has Weapons of Mass Destruction and he is going to use them against us...
So then Sean Hannity said you must support this war because Saddam has Weapons of Mass Destruction and he is going to use them against us...'
Well, we all know how the story goes from there. This administration turned away from the real threat to our country. A man who DID attack our country and kill thousands of our people. They falsely turned our attention and our fears to a country that, now that the war is over and hindsight is 20/20, we know for sure was a non-threat. There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. They were not an imminent threat.
Now the President says that he will find evidence of a Weapons of Mass Destruction 'PROGRAM'.
And now Sean Hannity says that any day now the president it going to provide us with evidence of a Weapons of Mass Destruction 'PROGRAM'.
Program?
We dont want a stinking program. We want to see stockpiles and 100s of tons of VX, Saren, antrax and mustard gas that was suppose to be hidden north, south, east and west of Tikrit!
A 'Program' is not an imminent treat.
Now look at the mess we are in. And we're in it for a long time.
Thats one reason I this song was written.
Daryl Worley wrote a very good song about 9/11 called 'Have you Forgotten'. Its message is very true. We should never forget what happened on 9/11/2001. However, I think he got some things wrong in that song and I wanted to address them.
1. His song suggests that we had to have this war in Iraq to protect our freedom and get paybacks for 9/11.
This makes no sense because, for one, Iraq was not a threat. And, two, they had nothing to do with 9/11.
2. There is a line in his song that goes "And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden - Have you forgotten?"
Well, this suggests that there where droves of people in the country saying that we shouldn't hunt down the mastermind of the attacks. 'Just leave him alone, poor fella'. Thats stupid. There were absolutely no protests when we sent troops into Afghanistan. Thats because it was exactly the right thing to do. The American people haven't forgot about Bin Laden, this administration has.
This is the other reason the song was written.
Then, of course, there is that Jody Keith song. Whats it called? Boot up yer ass?

Lyrics
A dark cloud hangs over America today
World opinion is at its lowest
and our jobs have gone away.
We're lied to and cheat by the people at the top
Unless we stand up and take some action
this ain't ever gonna stop
So who are all these fellas
in the whitehouse today
who have us wave the flag
then take our liberties away
Well, there's Ashcroft and Wolfowitz, there Donald Rumsfield too.
There's Cheney and Karl Rove and their screwing me and you
They Snuck into the whitehouse where they're pulling Dubya's Strings
The manipulated leader
Yeah he is our puppet king
They're the men behind the curtains
the creators of the lies
they hijacked 9/11 and now our soldiers die
They are the Neocons
The missions not accomplished
Bin Laden is still on the run
Saddam was just a smokescreen to make us think some job was done
And while the war still rages
with our troops still taking hits
those fat-cats up in D.C. cut thier veterans benefits.
But there are taxcuts for the wealthy
who laugh all the way to the bank
While our poorest families struggle
and the economy is in the tank
So where are all those weapons
how they've strangely disappeared
Its becoming fairly obvious
they were never really here
a war thats based on lies
and intelligece thats rotten
now whens the last time you've even heard Bush mentioning Bin Laden
It Seems hes forgotten.
World opinion is at its lowest
and our jobs have gone away.
We're lied to and cheat by the people at the top
