About the song
I guess break-ups make pretty good fodder for songs. I said something I shouldn't have said, and it cost me.

At least that was the premise for this song. To be honest, I didn't know her all that well, and nothing ever really happened, so I guess it's not really accurate to say that we "broke up." Nevertheless, it was good song fodder.

Verse 1:
You know that I never meant to hurt you;
I never knew what I said...
And if I could get a second chance with you,
You'd never be misled...

Girl, I didn't know what I had with you;
It was something that I never did see...
I find myself thinking of you every night...
Tell me, do you ever think of me...?

Chorus:
Maureen, oh where are you now...?
Tell me, are you thinking of me somehow...?
I never wanted it to end this way,
And I haven't been the same since you've gone away...

Verse 2:
I took for granted the friend that I had;
Our love was there all along...
I never did hear you 'til I turned around,
And suddenly you were gone...

Can I tell you how much I miss you...?
The feeling I can strongly defend...
I'd give up my life and my endless flight
To have you in my arms again...

Chorus:
Maureen, oh where are you now...?
Tell me, are you thinking of me somehow...?
I never wanted it to end this way,
And I haven't been the same since you've gone away...

Bridge:
I've got your picture in the back of my mind,
And I hear the sound of my voice calling your name...
And every time I think I've got you out of my mind,
Your name comes back to haunt me, and I'm struck by that familiar pain...

(instrumental ad lib)

I never wanted it to end this way,
And I haven't been the same since you've gone away...

Chorus:
Maureen, oh where are you now...?
Tell me, are you thinking of me somehow...?
I never wanted it to end this way,
And I haven't been the same since you've gone away...
