A traditional folk song with strong family values, this is the very first song I wrote as a solo artist. Guitars, mandolin, stand up bass, drums and vocals.

About the song
The very first song I ever wrote, a co-write with my wife Candi, I pulled inspiration for this from my newborn daughter. All polished up and remastered.
Lyrics
as i lay my head to rest
i couldn't get much sleep
thinkin bout the day we had
face lit up so big
said something for the very first time
words came out so fine
thought about when i was young
a memory that was all but gone
(pre chorus)
i was just a little bout once
without a worry for the time of day
saw the world through innocent eyes
and was there any other way
(chorus)
every day i wake up i look forward to the next big step
you never cease to amaze me, the way you think inside that pretty little head
(verse 2)
i remember your very first breath
light surrounded you
held you in my arms so tight
feel in love its true
i remember your very first step
you were so sure and strong
precious little face and big bright eyes
that's why i wrote this song
(repeat prechorus and chorus)
(bridge)
i believe
i believe
the sun got brighter
the trees got greener
sky got blue-er
life got sweeter
on the day that you were born
