About the song
I wrote this song in minutes while on my way to work, sitting at a freeway offramp, there was a man with a sign and well....the melody just came to me as quick as the minimalist lyrics. I couldn't wait to get home and grab my guitar!
In it's original form the piece was sparse, now with the sax that was added by Jim Miller the song has been given new life!
Lyrics
See the man on the side with the cardboard sign
He's looking for some for or some change, oh brother can you spare a dime
He looks at me with those deep dark troubled eyes
His face cut deep with the trails of a hardened life
Sitting in my car waiting for the light to change
Trying not to stare with the A/C running blowing in my face
I reach into my pocket
But I havent got a dime
I wish I could do something
But I'm a little short on time
I'm running late to work
I've got a family of my own
I know
I feel
I see
