OVER THE EDGE is a 12-channel remix/granulation of my 1991 composition “Off the Edge” that explores various new pathways through the original work (published on a CD of Oliver’s electroacoustic music entitled “Icicle Blue Avalanche,” earsay 1998).

About the song
OVER THE EDGE was commissioned by Réseaux des arts médiatiques (Montréal). The source piece, “Off the Edge,” was created in 1991 using three sound generating boxes controlled by an ATARI computer running C-LAB NOTATOR software. "Off the Edge" was commissioned by composer Paul Dolden for his guest-curator presentation that year of a “concert carte blanche” hosted by Réseaux des arts médiatiques. In the original work, you can hear my interest in highly dense sounds. But at the time I was not satisfied with the slow working method and lack of dynamic possibilities offered by granular synthesis (mainly due to insufficient speed of computers).
