About the song
I was missing my wife one day while she was out, and caught myself turning the radio down when sad songs came on. So, it wasn't much of a leap from there to write the song! :o)
Lyrics
TURN THE RADIO OFF

I'm here all alone tonight
because my baby's gone.
For company I've got the radio
and it's playin' Country songs.
You know I love my Country,
these songs they aren't half-bad.
But tonight it seems that most these songs
are just so gosh-darn sad.

I'll turn the radio off>
So I won't have to hear
the saddest part of that old song.
I'll turn the radio off>
And hope I'll hear a happy tune
before the break of dawn.

My Baby's at her Mother's
because we had a fight.
I said some really stupid things
and I know she was right.
I'll call her in the morning
and tell her I was wrong.
Until then I am stuck here with
these sad ol' Country songs.

Here comes a song about broken hearts
to fill mine full of gloom.
So I reach out for the radio
in the darkness of my room.....

I'm feelin' awful sad tonight
and these songs, they sure don't help.
They make me feel a little worse
and sorry for myself.
I know my baby loves me,
I'm sure that she'll be back
to give me all the happiness
that these sad songs all lack!

-I'll turn the radio off!!
