Lyrics
Granny's Song
By Ed Cox/ Robb Steen
copyright 2008
When I was just a little boy
Grandma would come and stay awhile
It's been that way, since Gramps was gone
She'd tell us stories, turn out the lights
Kiss our cheeks and tuck us in at night
And I'd always ask her, Granny, sing your favorite song
She'd make me laugh with a silly rhyme
Then her gaze would go back in time
Smile down on the ones she loved
I'd close my eyes and drift off to sleep
As Grandma softly sang to me
Rock of Ages, The Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace
Years later I get a call
Your Grandma hasn't long at all
She wants to hear your voice before she goes
By her side she's in my arms
I softly sing her favorite songs
Then I kiss her, and Grandmas home
Now she laughs at Grandpa and his silly rhymes
As they hold hands on the other side
and smile down on the ones they love
They close their eyes as the Angles sing
In perfect three part harmony
Rock of Ages, The Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace
A sign at a Church the other day
Said all are welcome come and pray
The choir was rehearsing for Sunday mornin'
Stood in the doorway for awhile
Closed my eyes and saw her smile, and we sang
Rock of Ages, The Rugged Cross and Amazing Grace
