'Churchianity' was running out of steam for me and I entered the 'warfare phase' where I battled the devil to preserve my faith. But fighting satan just ain't the same as seeking Jesus.

About the song
I was painting my house when the first few lines of this song popped into my head. It's said about the Devil that he is the "father of lies". I couldn't count the number of times I've heard his lies such as "God doesn't hear you", "God doesn't care about you", "God gives everyone else what they ask for, but not you". Only time and fellowship with God will put those lies in their place. I also found a valuable faith building tool in keeping a journal, and writing out my prayers. It's a joy to review those now because I can see that many things I had cared enough to pray about have come to pass. Those lies are no more than a howling wind now.

Lyrics
Don't be deceived
The Devil's a liar
Don't you believe
Don't let him deceive you
With his lies

Remember the time
You knelt down to pray
You asked the Lord's guidance
In your despair
When God didn't answer
You right away
Old Satan whispered
"God doesn't care"

Faced with temptation
He says "it's all right
God will forgive you
Whenever you sin"
He mixes some truth
With each of his lies
Will you listen to God
Or listen to him?

You can distinguish
The truth from a lie
By learning and living
The word of God
Like holding a diamond
Up to the light
You'll see if it's good
Or see if it's flawed
