Fire Insurance
Sigh ... it grieves me that I was once a rabid evangelical who told people 'Jesus loves you', but when they didn't receive Jesus, turned around and said 'you're going to hell!' This is such a song.

About the song
This is one of those songs that was built around just 2 or 3 words. I wrote the 1st and 3rd verses, and mom wrote the 2nd. After the song was done, I spent some time looking for scriptural support for the song. It can be found in 1 John 5:12 "He who has the Son has life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life". The song does have a rather simple, matter-of-fact theology.

Lyrics
Fire insurance won't do you no good
After you have died
Unless you have confessed in Jesus
Man you're gonna be fried
After you have died
Unless you have confessed in Jesus
Man you're gonna be fried
Jack's Allstate was all paid up
When they found him dead
Saint Peter met him at the gate
And this is what Pete said
"Jack are you a Christian?
Your name's not in the book
I guess you're going to the other place
Man you're gonna cook"
