About the song
I lost my mother about a year ago. Throughout her life, she loved to dance. The story goes that she met my father during a blind date at a dance. My fondest thoughts are of she and my father dancing at our home while I was growing up. 'Mom, I miss you but I can just imagine you tripping the light fantastic even now. I love you'.
Lyrics
One Last Dance David Burns – Nov, 2008
1. He saw her dancing on a summer night at a local dance he knew right away
She was the one that he’d been waiting for all his life
She saw him watching from the dancehall door
He was the one that she’d been waiting for
And when they danced they knew it was more…. It was love
2. In the warm San Francisco night and the bright Broadway neon lights
Palisades on the Jersey Shore they would dance
Through the years they danced away
While they watched the autumn colors change
Then one winter she just slipped away…. The music died
CH: Just one more dance with you under summer skies
We’ll glide around the room and let the world spin by
Just play us one more song and let me hold you tight
I’d give up all my life for One Last Dance with You
3. Now he kneels at her resting place, sings her songs that she used to love
And speaks of times when they used to dance through the night
Skipping lightly cross the ballroom floor
To the sounds of the orchestra
And on his knees he prays they’d have one more…. One more dance
CH: Just one more dance with you under summer skies
We’ll glide around the room and let the world spin by
Just play us one more song and let me hold you tight
I’d give up all my life for One Last Dance with You
