About the song
23 years ago I sat in my little 24 foot travel trailer in Murfreesboro Tennessee, with my wife, 2 children at the time and my little Dachshund. I wrote two songs that week. Last Cajun Song & Sweet Dreams of Louisiana. I was missing my homeland of Louisiana terribly, as we had lived in Tennessee for several years. I worked for a janitorial company as I was perusing my musical career. Several of my Louisiana songs were written while I was vacuuming and cleaning the department stores. This one may have been started there, and finished in my lil travel trailer.
Lyrics
Had a dream the other night
about going back to Louisiana
Sweet Dreams Southern Nights
Simple Creole living, no sounds or city lights
Like the full moon shining on the bayou marshes
I'll be home tonight
I'm having, Sweet Dreams of Louisiana
Don't wake my cajun spirit, in these hills of Tennessee
Having Sweet Dreams of Louisiana, my cajun hearts in the bayou country, Lord its callin' me
It's been years now, since I've been back in Louisiana
The sweet smell of Southern Rain
The sweet aromas, of magnolias and chickory
And the warmth of a cajun mashadamio
Lord you can see what I mean
about going back to Louisiana
Sweet Dreams Southern Nights
Simple Creole living, no sounds or city lights
Like the full moon shining on the bayou marshes
I'll be home tonight
I'm having, Sweet Dreams of Louisiana
Don't wake my cajun spirit, in these hills of Tennessee
Having Sweet Dreams of Louisiana, my cajun hearts in the bayou country, Lord its callin' me
It's been years now, since I've been back in Louisiana
The sweet smell of Southern Rain
The sweet aromas, of magnolias and chickory
And the warmth of a cajun mashadamio
Lord you can see what I mean
