Lyrics
On The Kootenai
Copyrighted by: Verne Garrison
July 18, Valley Park, Mo
Banjo tuned E, No Capo, Key of E
On The Kootenai
E A
Mountain-side with black bear and blueberries,
E
They go together like honey and bees
B7
We used to watch them on the Kootenai
E
Peering thru pine, hemlock and fir trees
Sometimes Mama bear was all alone,
At least to a rookie, it would seem
Just don't get between her and her own
Cause Sweet Mama, can get awful mean
She would clamp her mouth around the branches
Then move her head upward, with smoothe pull
She would make several passes
Until her mouth was really full
If you have never seen it, I hope you get to,
I was blessed to have been given free
The chance to work the Flathead Mountains in the blue
On the great national forest, called The Kootenai
tag: It was all pleasure to me, working on the Kootenai
