About the song
My first try at this genre. Though I listen to it a lot. I have actually never written a full song. This one started off while I was sitting at my brother's cabin in the summer. I began to simply soak in the peacefulness of the whole area - no sounds other than nature itself. From there a connection was made between the peace of God and the chaos of the "Dragon" itself and a very strange dichotic metaphor was born.
Lyrics
Did you see the dragonflies?
Blue as the morning sky.
Flying high in my mind's eye.
The sound of a gentle breeze;
Boughs rustling through the trees.
A life that's oh so free
Here in God's creation
Away from the sounds of a nation...
Taking the subway train to slide through busy streets.
Intersection cameras strain to sneak a peek.
Neon signs to light the way to drunken nights.
Sirens call out warnings of their painful plight.
Bying sex from thirteen year old importees.
Drifitng silver Hondas just like PS3.
Crackling tazers kill to keep the broken peace.
It's all changed from how He meant the world to be.
We all see the wonders of the healing and we
Follow just like lemmings to our grave.
Fire flashes and we all give cash and
Then the statue speaks that we should worship him.
See the Dragon fly. See the Dragon fly.
See the Dragon fly. See the Dragon fly.
See the Dragon fly.
Saunter into hallways angry at the world.
Fly the flags half mast for all our boys and girls.
Some will starve to death but we can drive our cars.
Maybe some should say we think we've gone too far.
"Mercy, Mercy," cries the Dragon, blaming.
Never stops the words that drive us to our grave.
Accusations, lies, and condemnation
Seeking reputation in His social grace.
See the Dragon fly. See the Dragon fly.
See the Dragon fly. See the Dragon fly.
See the Dragon fly.
Riding a wave of light You pull me from the night.
Rising above the sounds we take this gentle flight.
Streams of red and white go by so fast
It looks like veins on a giant's concreate back.
Heaven shakes and then the Earth will quake.
We'll see the mountains throw themselves into the sea.
Lightning crashes and the atoms smash and
We all stand in glory of the risen King
Like a dragonfly, like a dragonfly,
Like a dragonfly, like a dragonfly,
We'll all arise.
Look around and see them coming from afar
Flames above their brains look just like shining stars.
See the sacrificed one grab that fateful cup
Babylon has fallen and she can't get up.
Get out of bed and rise up!
Put your face in the sun.
The whole Earth is wrapped in darkness
But we will rise up as one.
Nations come as they see the light
Look up and see what's around.
Sons will carry the daughters on their arm
Rich men come from afar
Singing praises to God.
I will give to you all the best
Gold and silver and bronze
No more hand me downs.
Blue as the morning sky.
Flying high in my mind's eye.
