The original (and rather lazy) title of this piece was 'The drinking song' because I fancied writing something about the effects of intoxication on the critical faculties. In the event, I changed my mind and ended up with another happy-go-lucky song about my own decline and fall. The guitar and bass were just thrown down in one take, but the 'loose' feel seems to work. I tried something wacky on the bridge by putting a vocal track through the octave function on my Boss ME-50 guitar pedal. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but I?m not convinced it was a success. Technically, it should be in tune, but ...
