The song sets out to ridicule the kind of person who pretends to act for altruistic reasons in this world in the hope that s/he might get some jollies in the next. It’s a real ‘hand-knitted’ effort with some pretty cheesy synthetic brass and bass parts. The bridge sounds a little bit clunky now, but there are one or two charming moments and a couple of nice chord changes. The lyric probably isn’t quite as rigorously constructed as it ought to be, although I suppose the sentiments are sound enough.
