About the song
This is the original demo for the song that eventually appeared on Gum’s 2003 album, ‘Low-flying Kites’. The guitar is quite effects-heavy which probably detracts a little from the desolate feel of the lyric. The Gum version was funked up a bit and worked pretty well on the album, but this ‘naked’ take is perhaps more in tune with the original spirit of the lyric. Not one for the office party, not unless you are in a ‘Thom Yorke’ kind of mood. Or you’re on prozac, having just been chucked by your girlfriend.
