About the song
I inherited a family bible from my grandparents and that is where I got the inspiration for the song. The song tells the importance of the word of God for our fore fathers and how we as a society have turned away from our simple faith to trust in modern convenience. We need to turn back to that simple faith that made our country great.
Lyrics
IBLE ON THE TABLE
A
There's a Bible on the table
That helps me to remember
D A
Stories that my grandma used to tell and
Written on its pages are stories of the ages
B7 E7
And pages of my family tree
A
People from the old land
Came into a new land
D B7
So they could worship God and be set free
D E A D
Pictures of the past cast in plates of tin
bM E A
Telling stories all about my family tree
With the dangers of the wilderness
And a struggle for survival
D A
They put their trust in God to get them through
Yet they had a vision of a land and of a freedom
B7 E
God's word the only promise that they knew
A
And through their many struggles they were
D B7
Strong and they were able to live a life and raise a family
D E A D
This is the story of the trials and the glory
BM E7 A B
Written there in my family tree
Well the times they were a changing
Thoughts were re-arranging
E B
A modern age ahd come in with a boom
Trinkets , things and habits all kinds of modern gadgets
CSHARP FSHARP
replaced simple faith the pioneers once knew
B
So we took the Bible away from public places
E
Our vein thinking has made us blind that we canT
CSHARP
see
E FSHARP B E
But these are the stories of the failures and the glory
CSHARP MINOR FSHARP B
Written there in my family tree
