About the song
This song was written from a poem given to me on my birthday back in 2001. I finished the second verse after the tragedy of 911. After this recent tragedy at Virginia Tech University I altered the first verse and had it professionally recorded. There is a message in this song. I pray it touches the hearts of people all across the world.
Lyrics
Travel on our Knees

By Rick (Levi) Amburgey & April Patrick ASCAP 2007

I’m a Christian man by faith, caught up in the days,
When we all face many trials, down life’s busy highways.
Turned on the radio, the news was coming on.
Virgina Tech, students murdered, that’s someone’s daughter, someone’s Son.

Here in our country and others I’ll never see.
Destroyed by acts of hatred. Families dying in the streets.
We can help those nameless faces, with lives torn apart by grief.
Let us bow our heads, fold our hands, and travel on our knees.

Chorus

Oh the miles we can travel, The pain we can ease.
The many burdens we can help those lift, When we travel on our knees.
Another state, another country, maybe trouble in our home.
We can talk to God in Heaven, ____ and never use a phone.

Sad news of the terror , in the land of the free
Wounded hearts, and tears of sadness, seen by Miss Liberty
Yet we all search for the love and compassion that we all need.
And hope to find someone, who has a little time that’s free.

Another day , a new heartache, that lie’s up ahead.
Emptiness & loneliness, children carried off to bed.
Let us all join together and fight the world’s worst enemies.
Let us bow our heads, fold our hands, and travel on our knees.

Chorus

The miles we can travel, the pain we can ease.
The many burdens we can help those lift, when we travel on our knees.
Another state, another country, maybe trouble in our home.
We can talk to God in Heaven, ____ and never use a phone.

We can talk to God in Heaven,….and never use a phone. End.
