About the song
I wrote this during the build-up for the war in Iraq.
The true reasons for this war were being so obscured.

Powerful people will send others to war with promises that it is for a noble cause. Usually it is for Sphere of Influence, trade, territory, resources, market and alliance. Power.
Lyrics
Powerful People ©2000, Madeline Preisner

Powerful People, you've got to watch what they do
their own search for power, is not what they’re tellin you

They’re sayin’ theirs is the right way, for the righteous and true
but if they can hear the one true voice, then you can too

Cause if you follow the leaders, if you just go along
You might not end up where you had planned, you might be wrong

Powerful people, will tell you what they want to.
So just remember their power, all comes from you

And you don’t have to believe them, it’s OK to doubt
That’s what thinkin’ for yourself is all about

Cause it’s not easy to watch,
other people’s misfortune
Misery on TV

It’s not easy to look
you see the pain and suffering
It could be you and me, on TV

Powerful people, will tell you what they want to.
So just remember their power, all comes from you

watch what they do
their own search for power,
is not what they’re tellin you
