Lyrics
The Future
The morning sun found its way thru the curtains in my bedroom
and I was forced to greet another day.
I poured a cup of coffee, lit a cigarette with wonder, fetched the daily paper from where it lay.
Then scanned the obituaries thinking maybe I had landed there
last night.
But life’s about as exciting as some old B horror movie so there's no
chance of me dying soon from fright.
But I'm alright, yeah I'm O.K. it’s all clear as mud to me
It seems tomorrow was way over rated and the future aint everything it’s cracked up to be
My girlfriend is a waitress at the local Steak & Ale House she’s got my name tattooed on her ass.
She says even though I'm older I still remind her of some rock star.
God! that women’s got a lot of class.
I guess I lost all my ambition in the struggle up the ladder and stalled short quite a few rungs from the top.
I'm gonna lose my grip some day and plummet to obscurity and she'll be there to catch me when I drop
So I'm alright, yeah I'm ok It’s all clear as mud to me
It seems tomorrow was way over rated and the future aint everything it’s cracked up to be
Bridge;
Go ahead and dream big if you want to, everybody needs to have a dream
But take a little tip from me some day you’ll face reality and see...
That life really aint such a mystery... But still....upon further consideration I would have to say
I find it so amazing how this old world can slowly turn and make its way yearly round the sun.
But even more incredible is how another day goes by with out me getting a single damn thing done.
Aint it funny when you’re younger that the nights can last forever and the days can be a constant revelation.
It seems now that I'm older that I'm just like some old freight train that never seems get out of the station.
But I'm alright, yeah I'm O.K. It’s all clear as mud to me
