About the song
We were looking for a song for our internet friend Zenwaiter to put on his snowmobile website www.zenwaiter.com and when we found Tom Connors lyrics online we stopped searching and started playing.
Another effort inspired by our connections to the snowmobile world www.zenwaiter.com we wanted to find a sound that would appeal to the snowmobile riders mainly guys and their wives in their mid 40s. We did a search on "snowmobile song" and found the lyrics written by Stompin Tom Connnors. They told a good story and our guys could identify with the snomo theme. Those words were enough to get us going and we put together a hiprock track. Using some hiphop drum beats found on the internet we created a drum track then recorded the guitar and a sorta back beat by then we had something to sing to and started rehearsing the vocal idea.
The next day more was revealed and we decided on the construction of the song bringing it to the magic 3 minute mark. Now it was time to lay down the bass line using the studio's Fender Jazz Bass we routed the sound through the Digitech BMX3 we traded for the website of our favorite music store La Royaume de la Musique in Joliette. It has proved to be a practical piece of equipment and will be with me for a while. There are so many combinations and I still haven't used it as a looper yet.
Now that the bass and drums were formulated we did more vocal tracks and back vocal tracks doubled and tripled mixdown and added more voices using pitch shifters an phase shifting to add to the confusion. We did another guitar track and worked on a Floydish sounding solo at the 2 minute mark, but we couldn't quite nail it. I went over the solo note by note in my mind and the next day I had it after a 20 minute warm up. And that was it for the music next I wanted to add a cool snowmobile sound or drive by from Zenwaiter's video collection and we found 2 that were tacked on to the beginning and the end of the project. it took 4 days to complete the song ..while doing other stuff like banners, web publishing and writing of course.
My assesment is that we're really flying in soloLand studio and it's a rewarding experience. I would like to invest in a better sound card and my amplifier has gone mono on me. I need a faster computer and a laptop for the show, oh it never ends.. enjoy the music pass it around play it on a podcast whatever I haven't contacted Stopmin Tom yet I don't know how maybe he has a website I'll try there. www.stompintom.com

Lyrics
It's Wintertime and the weather's fine
The snow is on the fields when I reveal... my snowmobile
Thrill by thrill gully n' hill Baby you can ride with me
find a good meal On a snowmobile
Listen to the sound when the belts go round ' .. winter carnival's here...
And oh what fun at the crack of the gun When the whole gang disappears. .
The race is on from the bush to the pond
And back where the judges's feel you've won their seal...
For the snowmobile You've won their seal... for the snowmobile
Where skier's ski, and skater's pee and snowshoes lend appeal
Like a bogie wheel,... On a snowmobile
We tip the glass to the northern lass for she won't make ya kneel
She'd rather squeal -...on a snowmobile
You're off to the town where the word goes round It's winter carnival time
In goggles, boots, and a snowproof suit Your sweethearts on your mind
Ya win the race and you see her face and you know that she must feel
You've got a real... good snowmobile- You've got a real... good snowmobile
