I heard them laugh and put the thorns on His head
They hung Him on a cross and now His body’s dead
I raised Him from the very day He was born
Now He’s hangin’ here, His body’s beaten and torn
I can hardly bear all the pain I feel inside

I saw the temple curtain as it ripped apart
The sky turned black at the last beat of His heart
He said “It is finished,” breathed His last and died
Then a soldier came and stuck a spear in His side
They put Him in a tomb and closed it with a stone
But Jesus came back and ascended to His throne

After that, persecution began
The pagans started killin’ anyone who took a stand
They were tortured and burned and some were even crucified
But some weren’t strong enough and some of them denied
Some stood strong no matter what it cost
Knowin’ if they gave their lives they’d never be at loss
Cuz back then people valued freedom of religion
But today we take for granted everything we’re given
The persecuted Christians could deny God and live
Instead they chose to stand up and live or die for Him
It’s a choice all of us gotta make today
We can just live for satan or follow God’s way

Why do people laugh and say it’s all a lie
That God sent His only Son to die and give us life?
Everyone just seems to think they got it all today
And the free gift of Christ just all fades away
All the selfish people who are caught up in themselves
Will probably reconsider it one day when they’re in hell
There’s so many people who just think that they can wait
They put it off everyday ‘til one day it’s too late
Then the others live their lives for Christ fervently
And they know that heaven’s where they’ll spend eternity
So listen up, and decide to live for Christ
