About the song
The hook came to me, brought to me by my returned Muse, and together this is what we penned.
Lyrics
Father
(02/18/2009)
(A)
Father? Can you tell me?
Why that women cries those tears.
Father? Can’t you help her?
It’s the unknown that she fears.
Father? She seems so lonely.
Is it all because of me?
Father? Can’t you help her?
Find some peace, set her free?
(A)
Father? Can you tell me?
Why that man there, cries alone?
Father? Is there a reason
that his hopes have all but flown?
Father? He seems so helpless,
is it all because of me?
Father? Is there a reason?
That neither one can’t be set free?
(Bridge)
For the briefest moment
the three of us were one.
But time was short, I soon had to fly.
No more nights and lullabies.
We had only just begun.
I might understand but when day is done.
(A)
Father? Is there an answer?
Or away for them to know?
Father? They’re believers.
Yet question why this is so?
Father? I’ve accepted,
I’ll take my place upon your knee.
Father? Can’t you help them
and all others so they may see?
Father? Can you help them
find their peace and set them free?
