About the song
The song title says it all. I was inspired to write the lyrics and vocal line to this bluesy rock number which originated as a Swampman instrumental. The guitar playing had such attitude and character that I immediately got a picture and came up with the lyrics.
Lyrics
Blues Hound
I can hear some footsteps
Walking down the street,
Just around the corner,
Wonder who I'm gonna meet.
A song keeps playing
And taking a chance,
He struts along the sidewalk
Without a second glance,
Then it rings a bell,
Thinking to myself,
I know that sound (Blues Hound).
Grinning from a poster,
Wanted everywhere,
Slipping through a window
Then he's running down the stairs.
A nose for trouble,
One eye on the door,
He merges with the shadows,
A ghost you've seen before.
He is wrong, he is right,
Darker than the night.
Gonna haunt this town (Blues Hound).
Here he comes now...
Gotta keep on moving,
Always roaming free,
Likes a little danger,
That is how it's gotta be.
Can't hunt the hunter,
No beating the beat,
He's playing like a player
'Cause he likes to feel the heat.
Devil in his eye,
Never ask him why,
Say, who's around? (Blues Hound).
(Blues, blues, blues, blues hound)
Hey
(Blues, blues, blues, blues hound)
He's a blues hound
(Blues hound, blues, blues hound)
He is a blues hound
(Blues hound, blues, blues hound)
Well, he's on the run,
Can't trust anyone,
Better get on down (Blues Hound).
Way across the city,
Past the neon lights,
Huddled in a basement,
A sound begins to bite.
Lost and lonely,
A heartbreaking tune,
Screaming at the darkness
And howling at the moon.
Gotta have some soul,
Every story told.
Look who I've found (Blues Hound).
I can hear some footsteps
Walking down the street,
Just around the corner,
Wonder who I'm gonna meet.
A song keeps playing
And taking a chance,
He struts along the sidewalk
Without a second glance,
Then it rings a bell,
Thinking to myself,
I know that sound (Blues Hound).
Grinning from a poster,

Slipping through a window
Then he's running down the stairs.
