About the song
I recorded this song because I think my dad would have enjoyed listening to it since he was a big country music fan. I remember hearing all those old tunes like Hank Sr., Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and others when I was a young boy.
Lyrics
"Lonesome Feelin'"
Left my country home
To seek my fortune
Took my guitar packed a suitcase
And hit the road
I thumbed my way to Tennessee
By way of a diesel
I was singin to the driver as we rode
I thought if I could just get to Memphis
Id have it made
Id cut a record to be an
Overnight success
But the studios were filled
With country pickers
And I ended up playin dives
Just like the rest
I had a lonesome feelin
No I never shouldve left that
Good ole Texas ground
Had a lonesome feelin
Like to find me a southern train
And were homeward bound
Playin honky tonks is a
Hard way to go
But in all its the
Only life I knew
Yet when times got bad
And jobs got hard to find
You know I had to steal
Just to eat a meal or two
But the sheriff caught me
Robbin a store in
Pine Bluff Arkansas
And I spent two years
Behind those prison doors
And when I got out
I headed for the nearest station
Well Im goin back home
And I aint gonna leave no more
I had a lonesome feelin
But Im on that train
And Im runnin down a
Gulf coast track
I had a lonesome feelin
Well the best part about leavin home
Is a comin back
Yea the best part about leavin home
Is a comin back
Left my country home
To seek my fortune
Took my guitar packed a suitcase
And hit the road
I thumbed my way to Tennessee
By way of a diesel
I was singin to the driver as we rode
I thought if I could just get to Memphis
Id have it made
Id cut a record to be an
Overnight success
But the studios were filled
