Lyrics
Toy Phone
Verse
I walked to my little boy’s room
He was sitting on the twentieth floor
Dialing numbers on his toy phone
I watched him from the door
The little numbers jiggling
Then I heard my sweet boy say
Hello Jesus, can you hear me?
Will you teach my Daddy to pray?
Verse
All the breath I had rushed out of me
I fell down onto my knees
As I heard him asking in his voice
“Jesus, can you save my Daddy please?”
He then said, “Goodbye Jesus
Can the angels sing me to sleep?”
All that I could do
Was hang my head and weep
Chorus
Take comfort my little child
Lay down in your warm bed
The Lord has heard your crying
So rest your weary head
Beginning with this day
Your father you have shown
The need for him to pray
Because of this toy phone
Verse
I picked up my little sleeping boy
Tucked him safely in his bed
Then placed that little telephone
On the pillow by his head
Leaning down to kiss him
I let out a long sigh
Coming from that little phone
I heard the angel’s lullaby
Chorus
Take comfort my little child
Lay down in your warm bed
The Lord has heard your crying
So rest your weary head
Beginning with this day
Your father you have shown
The need for him to pray
Because of this toy phone
Verse
That night before I went to bed
I knelt down and I prayed
I closed my eyes and thanked the Lord
For showing me the way
And I’ll never be alone
I’ll never forget that evening
When he called Jesus on his phone
