About the song
I wrote this after I read a story about a child who succumbed to child abuse. The case was "Baby Grace".
Lyrics
Her Daddy
Verse
Sitting all alone/ looking into space
This pretty little girl/ tears flowing down her face
Cannot understand/ how life can be so bad
Fighting every day/ between her mom and dad
Verse
Goes to sleep at night/ with hopes that it will end
Cannot tell a soul/ cannot tell a friend
Blames herself each day/ for things she bears at night
Cries herself to sleep/ lives each day in fright
Chorus
Her daddy doesn’t love her
Her mother doesn’t care
Her daddy loves to touch her
When mother is not there
Her daddy is a drunkard
Her mother is too weak
Her daddy loves to beat her
Her mother turns her cheek
Verse
Sitting all alone/ as children play their games
This lonely little girl/ is feeling so much shame
She doesn’t understand/ why others just don’t see
Looking for a savior/ to set this poor girl free
Verse
Walks alone from school/ to an empty home
Knowing any moment/ becomes a battle zone
Locks the bedroom door/ knows it will be soon
This poor little girl/ her lonely life is doomed
Chorus
Her daddy doesn’t love her
Her mother doesn’t care
Her daddy loves to touch her
When mother is not there
Her daddy is a drunkard
Her mother is too weak
Her daddy loves to beat her
Her mother turns her cheek
Bridge
Sitting in the middle/ is an empty desk
Children doing homework/ children taking tests
No one seems to notice/ or maybe they don’t care
The pretty little girl/ no longer sitting there
Chorus
Her daddy didn’t love her
Her mother didn’t care
Her daddy loved to touch her
When mother was not there
Her daddy was a drunkard
Her mother was too weak
Her daddy loved to beat her
Her mother turned her cheek
Outro
Now daddy will not beat her/ she’s in the arms of love
She’s in the arms of Jesus/ in heaven up above
