Catch My Fall
play lo-fiplay lo-fi     play hi-fiplay hi-fi
From Billy Idol's second album 'Rebel Yell', a song that reached 50 on the US Hot 100 when released in 1985. The lead vocals I did as a very subtle almost to the point of faint Jazz guitar sound... intentional :-)

About the song
I had this one in the works for quite a while. Yesterday I took an unplanned for drive all over Staten Island (my home boro)... the weather was very nice and the night was simply amazing. All this lead me to think & reflect mostly about all those loose ends that pile up behind us, all the things I wished for, the people that I miss, the ones I have had to let go... catch my fall - the ultimate safety net, one that is not missed unless you start to feel alone.
Lyrics
I have the time so I will sing yeah
I'm just a boy but I will win yeah
Lost song of lovers fellow travelers yeah
Leave me sad and hollow out of words

It could happen to you so think for yourself

If I should stumble
Catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble
Catch my fall
Catch my fall
If I should stumble
Catch my fall
If I should stumble

I've traveled and unwound my own truth yeah
I've laid my head on the rock of youth yeah
I've trusted and then broken my own word
Just to keep me free in this mad, mad world

It could happen to you so think for yourself

If I should stumble
Catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble
Catch my fall
Catch my fall

It could happen to you so think for yourself

If I should stumble won't you catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble catch my fall yeah
If I should stumble would you catch my fall
If I should stumble catch my fall
