Band/artist history
Tim and Ampo met in 1990 where both were on the same DJ line up at one of the UK’s most seminal clubs, the club was Venus in Nottingham. Tim’s residencies kept him in Nottingham most weekends but when he had the opportunity played at some of the UK’s biggest club nights. Tim was named as one of the UK’s best resident DJ’s in a Face magazine interview. Tim has held long residencies at - Venus, The Bomb, Essence & Stealth in Nottingham. Various Guest appearences. Ampo started his DJing career in 1989 after being asked by a friend to DJ at a festival in Leicester. This progressed to clubs with a bi-weekly residency at Venus in Nottingham in 1991. Through Venus Ampo met various DJ’s and was inspired by the deeper music of Andrew Weatherall, subsequently being invited to play at Andrew’s legendary night Sabresonic. While in London he met Darren Emerson and DJed for Underworld along side Darren Price as a guest DJ on their UK tour. He was named as London’s best up and coming techno DJ in Melody Maker in 1994. Residencies Venus, Gardening Club, Club UK. Guest spots various over the years Flying, Sabresonic, The Ministry Of Sound, Drum Club, Club UK, Tribal Gathering, Underwater. Jason has written his own album and regularly performs solo live gigs just him and his guitar. He has done session work with various artists including Spiritualized & Bent and other local bands, before joining forces with Unity Crescent. Unity Crescent are showcasing their album material on a series of promo only CDR mailouts through Whitenoise Promotions. Having already enjoyed the deep laidback grooves of ‘Natural Everyday & Soul Seeker’, which entered into the DMC Zzub Chart at 12. This was closely followed by, ‘Bad Light’ featuring vocals from Jason Williamson. This kept the same vibe as the first couple of tracks with another deep groover, ‘Crazy As I Am’, but also showed a more brooding gritty darker side to Unity Crescent’s productions, with ‘Bad Light’. This release also entered the DMC Zzub Chart and peaked at .. 6. Now ‘Eyes Wide Out’ steps it up another gear with peak time electro breaks action, demonstrating the versatility of their sound. ‘Make A Raise’ goes back down to the dub vibes whilst ‘Treasure Beach’ takes your mind away from the winter blues to warmer shores. Unity Crescent are busy in the studio working on various singles and working on finishing their LP. They are currently looking for a labels to help them release their singles and LP, which is in the final stages of production.
