About the song
My auntie asked me to write her a song after I wrote "Coming Home" for her sister when she passed away. She wanted me to write her a song before she passed away so she could enjoy it, unlike my other auntie. So here it is = )
Lyrics
Summers - Allen & Candie Payne 2006
Remembering that first morning,
Met with a family I never knew,
I was just a child, too young to realize,
Made an impression on you too.
So began my, ascent to that King's chair...
The king of every summer, I made my new home there.
CHORUS
Man there's somethin about Summer,
When a child gets his wings,
Canyon echoes 'round the creek bed,
You can hear the pine trees sing,
Spent my summers up in heaven,
An angel taught me how to grow,
And I will cherish you forever,
Just how much you'll never know.
VERSE 1
Met a dancing dog his name was Duke,
My Auntie Barbara's Cool Hand Luke,
Oreo cookies with Mr. Clean.
VERSE 2
Creamer in my coffee at 6 AM
My new family were my best friends,
Summers were few and far between.
Not a year goes by that I dont tell my wife,
Those little things were some of the best times of my life
CHORUS
Man there's somethin about Summer,
When a child gets his wings,
Canyon echoes 'round the creek bed,
You can hear the pine trees sing,
Spent my summers up in heaven,
An angel taught me how to grow,
And I will cherish you forever,
Just how much you'll never know.
VERSE 3
Out on patrol with Brave Dave and Cam,
Found a tank crew in a jam,
It was our favorite way to play
VERSE 4
From "Roger Dee" to "Stymie Lou"
Oh how quickly those days flew,
What I'd give for one more day
Sometimes I know we seem so far apart,
But auntie you will always hold the queens chair in my heart.
CHORUS
