About the song
The lyrics are sort of a cautionary tale or warning about creativity, plagiarism, intellectual property and the process of storytelling and song writing. The song title is a quote from a SANDMAN graphic novel (sorry but we can't remember which volume or issue number) written by Neil Gaiman which is a playful reversal of the phrase "Beware The Ideas Of March" whch is itself a quote from William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, an unknown soothsayer tells Caesar, who is already on his way to the Senate (and his death), "Beware the ides of March." Caesar replies, "He is a dreamer; let us leave him. Pass.
Lyrics
You fear feeling before thinking.
You fear losing control of ideas you hold.
Too close to release control.
You hold on for too long.
Fingertips & keyboards.
Microphones & vocal-chords.
None of these are fast enough to document or hold.
Too close to release control.
You hold on for too long.
Fingertips & keyboards.
Microphones & vocal-chords.
None of these are fast enough, fast enough, fast enough,
to document. Document. Document. Document or hold.
Too close to release control.
You hold on for too long to control. Control. Control. Control.
