About the song
Phill liked what we did, as a sax/drum duo, to his song "Just Two" so much that the next week he called me and said, "Ben, I wrote this thing I call 'Ode'. I'm thinkin' sax and percussion. Sorry, I can't pay ya'... Wanna' do it?" Obviously I did. I drove to the studio with my poor old car packed with almost every percussion instrument I owned, listened to Phill play his Ode, selected my toys, the kids placed their mic.s, tape rolled, we played, and "Ode" was cut. That's Jazz... or is it?
