About the song
I appreciate Mitch and Stephen helping me to express this true story! Samantha Trenholm did an amazing job bringing the words to life! But most of all, I thank the Lord for a new start in my life, that day and every day.
It was a long day at the hospital, but God offered hope as I anticipated the birth of my son on 9/11/01. As I waited for the doctor to induce my labor, I spent about an hour with the Lord in prayer and Bible study. Then I turned on the TV, thinking I'd catch a morning show.
Just as most of you had to decide what to think and feel that day, I faced a crossroads. It was lifechanging for me. Seems trivial to say I will never be the same. But the losses to the thousands of families truly IS NOT IN VAIN.
We will never forget.
My son was born at 2:50 in the afternoon...I watched and prayed all day and prayed all night for what seemed like days.
Now, about 5 years later, the Lord impressed on my heart to share this story:

December Rain

(v1)
My little man is gettin' tall right before my eyes
Lately we're both feelin' growin' pains
He was born on 9/11, people ask me all the time
What was it like havin' him that day
(chorus)
Like being caught out in the rain
A deep December rain
Cut down to the bone
By a desperate kind of cold
That steals your breath away
Held my baby close through the night
Wonderin' if his life would be alright
Or like December rain
(v2)
When he's outside playing fireman with the garden hose
My heart gets lost in his carefree smile
I think about ordinary folks who became heroes
And Miss Liberty with tears in her eyes
(chorus)
She was caught out in a rain
A deep December rain
Cut down to the bone
By a desperate kind of cold
That steals your breath away
We held our children through the night
Wond'rin' if their lives would be alright
Or like December rain
(bridge)
You can't find a rainbow in a dark December sky
But children like my little man are one reason why
We weather all the storms in life and give it one more try
And thank the Lord for turnin' the world around another time.....
(chorus)
Through December rains
The deep December rains.....
When you're cut down to the bone
By a desperate kind of cold
That steals your breath away
Lord, keep us close through the night
And hold us tight
Through our December rains
Yes, lead us through our December rains
