About the song
This song has been written after i got a letter from a Jewish organisation i support, that told the story of a young woman from Israël. She came to the Netherlands with a group of young cancer patients (children). After she returned to Israël, she was going to be married. The evening before the marriage she was having dinner with her dad. A suicide bomber came in and blew up the restautant.

-- David Applebaum, 51, an American-born physician, and his daughter Naava, 20, had gone to the cafe to have coffee and a quiet chat on the eve of Naava's wedding.

Yesterday, instead of rejoicing at her wedding, Applebaum was interred with Naava, after a wrenching funeral, in side-by-side graves on a hill overlooking the Jerusalem forest.

"Can there be a greater tragedy?" Appelbaum's father-in-law, Shubert Spero, rabbi emeritus of the Young Israel of Cleveland congregation in Ohio, said in a eulogy for the slain physician and his daughter.

As Naava's body was about to be lowered into the ground, the man who was to be her husband, Chanan Sand, 20, placed their wedding ring on her shrouded body.

At a memorial service outside the destroyed Cafe Hillel last night, more than 200 people recited prayers for the dead. Despite a massive clean-up effort and sky-blue sheetrock wall set up around the cafe, parts of the sidewalk remained stained with blood.

"I have grown up here since I was 5 years old," said Nahum Abir, a restaurant worker in his 20s, "and I've never seen the street as sad as it was today." --

-------

Some about the recording: i recorded this song using an acoustic/western guitar, with a piëzo pcikup and a microphone (electret condenser) for the vocals and recorded it in one take (guitar and vocals at the same time). Mixed it 'on the fly' using a Behringer mixer attached to my computer. Because of this recording method, the acoustic guitar is sounding a lot fuller!
Lyrics
BOMBS FOR DINNER
(An answer to David Rovics pro palestian songs)

She came to our country / with the children so ill
to give them a break / a woman with a dream

She was madly in love / soon to be married
Back at home / she invited her dad
for some food and wine / in their favorite cafe

"dad" she sayd / "everythings so good"
Tomorrow i'll be his princess / and he'll be mine

Chorus
suddenly a blow and flashing lights
people screaming and death all around
The life of a woman
So innocent and sweet
Blown in pieces
on Jerusalems streets

It's easy to tell a story / and turn a blind eye
for what goes on / on the other side

but as in any war / there are victims everywhere
and their stories / need to be told
it's not a nice song / this worlds gone wrong

Now i know the jews / are only human too
beeing the chosen / doesn't make you flawless

*\*/*

Instead of the altar / he stood at the grave
his bride to be went down / to sink into our memory

she waits for / that ressurectoin day
a good soul lost / for the sake of revenge
she'll never be able / to lend her helping hands

the children she cared for / who do they turn to now?
is there a way / to make sense out of this somehow?

Chorus
suddenly a blow and flashing lights
people screaming and death all around
The life of a woman
So innocent and sweet
Blown in pieces
on Jerusalems streets
