About the song
For a number of months I sat on the idea of a breakup song about getting back together. My buddy Josh came by one day and listened to the music and melody. After awhile he gave me a rough draft and we smoothed out the lyrics to where they are now. This is a new updated version for the Pop Junkie CD.
Lyrics
It seems the time has come
I need a shelter from this storm
I thought that’s why you came along
But I could be wrong
Cause I don’t miss you much
Azaleas are in bloom
That means I’ve spent another year in gloom
Still searching for the words
But I just don’t have the nerves
Could I be missing you
Why did you leave
Did you think that I’d be fine
I’m not asking you to think
Or offering you a drink
Just stop and taste the wine
Right or wrong
Nothing matters since you’ve been gone
The waters of my life
Are in it’s strongest tides
But I’m left dry
Time’s incoherent rhythm
Plays a waltz on my heart’s drum
Every song it seems to play
Takes me further away
Won’t you come back to me
Why did you leave
Did you think that I’d be fine
I’m not asking you to think
Or offering you a drink
Just stop and taste the wine
I need a shelter from this storm
I thought that’s why you came along
But I could be wrong
Cause I don’t miss you much
Azaleas are in bloom
That means I’ve spent another year in gloom
Still searching for the words
But I just don’t have the nerves
Could I be missing you
Why did you leave
Did you think that I’d be fine
I’m not asking you to think
Or offering you a drink
Just stop and taste the wine
Right or wrong
Nothing matters since you’ve been gone
The waters of my life
Are in it’s strongest tides
But I’m left dry
Time’s incoherent rhythm
Plays a waltz on my heart’s drum
Every song it seems to play
Takes me further away
Won’t you come back to me
Why did you leave
Did you think that I’d be fine
I’m not asking you to think
Or offering you a drink
Just stop and taste the wine
