About the song
On the surface it is an unsettling letter from a son to his parents. But it would best considered an open letter for anyone looking at his life from a partial or judgmental view. I have written a number of songs from this perspective and enjoy diving into that inner first person mode in my lyrics.
Lyrics
Mother
I’m leaving
Father
Don’t grieve me
I’ve been told there’s a pot of gold
At the end of the rainbow
But it’s not fair you don’t want me there
Cause you’ve told me not to go
Mother
Don’t follow
Father
No sorrow

(CHORUS 1)
But I’ll stay
If you pray
And I’ll be
Ok
Cause I am
Falling away

Help me
I’m falling
Hear me
Stop calling
Don’t break your neck looking at the wreck
Of the man that I’ve become
Cause what you see is a piece of me
And not a total of the sum

(CHORUS 2)
If I stay (When will I be home)
Will you pray (When will I be there)
And make me (When will I be warm)
Ok (When will someone care)
Cause I am
Falling away

When will I be home (everything is safe)
When will I be there (everything’s ok)
When will I be warm (everything is fine)
When will someone care (I can touch the sky)

Help me (and above)
Hear me (and above)
Help me (and above)
Don’t fear me (and above)

Help me
I’m Falling

(CHORUS 2 repeat)
