About the song
The final cut was recorded about 4 years ago at East Avalon Recorders here in Muscle Shoals. A friend Steve Robbins (where did you go?) brought over an old tape with keys and bass line only. The original recording (bass & keys) was done in the late 70's by the late Leon Wilkenson of Lynyrd Skynyrd and the late Randy Cutlip of Sheffield, Alabama. It is my understanding that the original tracks were recorded in a makeshift studio in the basement of a building in Sheffield, Alabama that was also the residence of Randy Kutlip

We added guitars, drums and wrote the lyrics around the original recording. The lead vocals are done by Mark Pyle of BLACKLAND and the background vocals were done as a favor by Muscle Shoals vocalist April Killian.
Lyrics
joshua taught a lesson the tale of another man
went down to the windswept boneyard where the own and satyr live

location desolation beware the signpost said but my angel I did follow across the barren land

CHROUS

no water for my thirst no water in my can
this spititual desert I slipped into I know it's just a test
I close my eyes and look within the kingdom is at hand...oh yea

traveled across this wicked land a bible in my hand
cast a shadow before my eyes satan wins again

CHORUS

If you listen to these words a story they will tell about a
man that decided heaven over hell

CHROUS
